Some plans are better enjoyed as a group, and a day on a boat in Menorca is one of the ones that work best: a different kind of birthday, a friends' getaway, a family reunion or simply bringing the people you love together away from the noise. The question isn't whether it's worth it, but how to organise it well. Here's the guide, told by someone who takes groups out sailing every week.
The whole boat for your group (up to 12 people)
First and most important: with us you charter the whole sailboat, not individual seats. No sharing the deck with strangers and no following a tour group's schedule. It's your people and the sea, up to a maximum of 12 people, at your own pace.
Our Elan Impression 384 is a 12-metre sailboat designed for a group to move around comfortably: a spacious cockpit with an outdoor table for everyone to eat together, a sun deck at the bow, shade under the awning, a bathroom, a galley and cool boxes. It's exactly the kind of private boat we talk about in our guide to sailboat charter with skipper.
Ideas for celebrating on board
Every group is after something different, which is why we don't sell a fixed package: we put it together with you. These are the plans we're asked for most:
- A different birthday: instead of yet another dinner, a day's sailing, a swim in unspoilt coves and a toast on deck. The gift no one forgets.
- Friends' getaway: that escape you always say you have to do. Twelve of you fit easily, and the day flies by.
- Family celebration: from grandparents to grandchildren. Three-generation groups have sailed with us; if little ones are coming, our guide to sailing with kids will help.
- Anniversaries and special occasions: and if it's romance you're after, see how we organise marriage proposals on board.
Eat, toast and set the soundtrack
For a group, food and drink are half the celebration. You can bring whatever you like —from a picnic to a birthday cake— and enjoy it at anchor in a cove, with plates, glasses and cool boxes on board. If you'd rather not worry about a thing, we'll arrange a catering service with advance notice.
And the unexpected touch? Live piano music. The composer Gabriel Peso can play live on deck while the group toasts at sunset: discover the experience of live music on board. It's the kind of detail that turns a boat trip into a memory for life.
Half day or full day for a group?
For a group celebration, we almost always recommend the full day (8 hours): there's time to sail under canvas, anchor in two or three coves, eat on board unhurried and round it off with a long afternoon swim. It's the option that "goes furthest" when there are lots of you and you want to make the most of the day.
The half day (4 hours) works if the group has other plans or wants something shorter: it's still enough to sail, anchor and swim. Split among several people, the price per head is very reasonable too; we break it down in the rates section.
How it's organised (hassle-free)
We coordinate everything over WhatsApp, directly with Sergi: you tell us what you're celebrating, how many you are and the date you have in mind, and we tailor the trip to you —route, stops, food, music if you want it. On the day of the trip you just have to get to the Port of Mahón and step aboard; the skipper takes care of the rest. More questions? We answer them in the frequently asked questions.
Frequently asked questions
How many people fit on the boat for a group trip?
Up to 12 people. The sailboat, a 12-metre Elan Impression 384, is spacious and comfortable: there's plenty of room for a group of friends, a large family or several couples, with space to eat, sunbathe and swim without feeling cramped.
Can you celebrate a birthday or other special occasion on board?
Yes. We organise birthdays, anniversaries, friends' get-togethers and private celebrations. You can bring your own food and drink, and as an extra we offer live piano music by the composer Gabriel Peso to make it even more special. Tell us your plan when booking.
Is the boat just for our group?
Yes, it's 100% private. You charter the whole sailboat for your group: we never share the trip with strangers. You choose who you sail with, up to a maximum of 12 people.
Can we bring our own food and drink for the group?
Of course. You can bring whatever food and drink you like to enjoy at the stops; there are plates, glasses, cool boxes and everything you need on board. If you'd rather not worry about it, we can also arrange a catering service with advance notice.
